Our Process
The Garden...
Our garden, the heart of our home, the source of our creativity. We are proud to grow a garden that is free from chemical and pesticides. My husband, Andy, and I understand the importance of healthy soil and attracting pollinators. All of the herbs we use in our products come directly from our garden. We plant, tend, harvest, and dry all of our own plants with reciprocity in mind. Andy and I feel so grateful to learn with every growing season how to be thoughtful stewards to the land we call home. We are humbled by the infinite lessons of patience and reward.
When a particular plant is ready to harvest we do so by hand. We then dry the plant completely, using a variety of methods; dehydrator, hanging, herb drying rack, whatever is best suited for that particular plant. Once the plant is dry it is ready to be infused into an oil.
Alchemy
A few years ago I took an Handcrafted Herbal Oils course by the famous, Kami McBride. Throughout this extensive course I learned how to infuse whole plants into oils using a method that extracts highly potent, medicinal herbal oil. Since then this is the process that I use to bring the whole plant together with the oil.
Our tallow comes from grass-fed beef suet that we source from our friends at Bair-Trax Dairy in Miami County, Ohio. Bair-Trax is a multi-generational, regenerative dairy farm that is certified organic, and really nice, hard-working folk. We hand-render the tallow twice to remove impurities. Once we have clean, processed tallow we then infuse it with our herbal oil and whip it to a buttery, smooth, consistency.
The beeswax we use in our All Balm comes from our friend, Mary at Mary's Blessed Bees in Shelby County, Ohio. We met Mary through our local farmers market and she has been beekeeping for 6 years. Her bees have access to her 20-acre homestead. The bees particularly love sipping on wild clover and linden blossoms.
We product high-quality products for every body and our hope is that our oils and balms bring peace and joy into your daily routines.
